On Friday 17 September 2021, His Excellency President Nana Akuffo Addo of Ghana, and his counterpart, His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d'Ivoire were in Guinea to hold talks with the military leadership in Guinea, led by Col. Mamadi Doumbouya.

Their meeting with the Special Forces in Guinea was centered largely on the fate of President Alpha Conde, and to ordered a swift return to constitutional order, asking the military rulers of that country to fix presidential and legislative elections within six months.

The meeting of President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d'Ivoire, and President Nana Addo of Ghana, with the military leaders in Guinea, has generated many hot debates, and trending issues on social media and on the Afrcan continent as a whole. Whiles some praised the ECOWAS body, for their attempt to help restore order in Guinea, others are also strongly against the two presidents in particular (Nana Akufo-Addo and Alassane Ouattara), who are leading the peace talks in guinea.

Also sharing his views on the situation is a Fraud and Security expert, Mr. Richard Kumador. In Mr. Kumador’s views, though ECOWAS as a body has the power and the authority to help solve the problems in Guinea, “ECOWAS is not serious”.

When asked by the host why he said ECOWAS is not serious, Mr. Kumador said if the Authorities of ECOWAS are really serious as a regulatory body, they would have come against President Alpha Conde publicly, when he twisted the country’s constitution, to enable him go for a third term office.

The Security expert again said when President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d'Ivoire also changed the Ivoirian’s constitution to enable him go for another term in office; the ECOWAS authorities did nothing against him; and so people cannot take them serious. He also said if ECOWAS continues with the way they are handling the situations, without addressing the core issues that triggered the Guinean’s coup, no one will take them serous.

Kumador again revealed that, the situation in Guinea calls for dialogue and diplomacy. By diplomacy, engagement is also needed; and these qualities are very important, in conflict management; and so President Alassane Ouattara going with Nana Addo to the meet with the Special Forces in Guinea is laughable; and that was the reason why the Guinean Military are not taking them serious.

Mr. Richard Kumador made this comments on TV XYZ and Power FM, whiles sharing his views on President Nana Akufo-Addo and Alassane Ouattara’s meeting with the Guinean coup leaders.
