A high powered military delegation stormed Wa today to apologise to the Chiefs and residents of the community, for the unacceptable brutalities meted by some rampaging military personnel yesterday, against unarmed, non-violent civilians; who were going about their normal day to day activities.
The soldiers slapped and kicked some residents while others were made to lie down in the gutter as they receive their fair share of the hot slaps.
The Wa Central MP, Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo described the incident as dehumanizing; an affront to societal norms and called for compensatios for the victims, one of whom has been critically injured with a fractured femur.
In a separate development, the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu and Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are in Ejura to commiserate with the families of Kaaka, Mohammed Murtala, and Abdul Nasiru, who died few days ago. In a response to a request made by the Chief of the area, the Vice President, Dr Bawumia donated an amount of 50,000 Ghana Cedis and 1000 bags of cement to support the construction of a divisional police headquarters within the Ejura community. The Chief Imam also donated 50,000 Ghana Cedis in support of same.
