(35+ Photos)Pray For Ghanaian Peacekeepers: Amisom Soldiers In Combat Against Terrorists In Somalia

The African Union Mission in Somalia(AMISON) is an active, regional peacekeeping mission operated by the African Union with the approval of the united Nations. It is mandated to support transitional Governmental structures, implement a national security plan, train the Somalia security forces and to assist in creating a secured environment for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Several conflicts have rocked various African countries over the years, leading to the death, injury and displacement of millions. There are current cases of political instabilities across the continent with violence and unrest raging on in South Southern, Burundi and Somalia amongst Other insecure African Countries.

The peacekeeping Mission comprises of troops from several African countries such as Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, Ghana and Sierra Leone amongst others. The Ghanaian contingent is also made up of Police personnel safeguarding the hinterlands.

The problem of Alshabab insurgency can't be solved by National government but through the continent combined military efforts and strength. Alshabab is high-tech terror group that's been fought by more than 25k Amisom soldiers without success though little strides have been made to partially secure some key towns.

Alshababs are multiethnic, multinational, multiracial and multilingual group. You can't easily identify who exactly caused the destructions and death. Thus it's practically impossible to apply the somali system of identifying wrong doers through clans and family lines for possible apprehension and punishment.

The government will cares about the method used in attaining peace. What's important for the government and the people is peace and stability for prosperity. But how can peace be achieved with a bunch of brainwashed terrorists who are bent on forcing primitive and obnoxious ideologies?

Alshabab militants have attacked several key installations and bases housing the UN/AU peacekeepers recently and numerous soldiers have been killed and high numbers of casualties recorded. In joint Assignments, African Union troops and the Somalia security forces have also launched offensive operations to attacked several locations used as hideout by the insurgents.

It is at the backdrop of these offensive operations and high death rate, that I ask for prayers for the Ghanaian troops. AMISON, thanks for the service. This intervention by the AU is commendable to flash out these bandits. We thank our brothers and sisters who are in uniform. Indeed, you make the country Somalia stable and the horn of Africa. We salute you gallant officers. Below are some photos of the mission.
