SAD NEWS: The First Female Brigadier General In Ghana Army Is Dead

One of Ghana's enterprising female military personnel, that has given hope and inspirational aid to young ladies yearning to enroll in the military has sadly passed on. 

The first female general in the Ghana Army, Brigadier-General Constance Emefa Edjeani-Afenu, was full of life and an inspiring personality. 

She sadly died at the 37 military hospitals yesterday 24 January 2022, after a short battle with an illness.

Gen. Constance Emefa Edjeani-Afenu was commissioned into the Ghana Armed Forces on 25 April 1980 as a Second Lieutenant, after eighteen months of regular training at the Ghana Military Academy.

She was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, the highest position ever occupied by a female in the Armed Forces, on March 7, 2016.

She served her heart out as she brought decency and hope to women yearning to join the military and the love to rise through the ranks into the place of prominence.
