Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has praised the military for their relentless assaults and for not relenting as they continue to produce great results based on their current operational trajectory in the North-West, notably Zamfara State, which has been a hub of criminal activity.
While there appears to be relative calm in the state, with situations returning to normal in most parts and rural communities ready to resume normal life, the president noted that there had been several breaches, particularly in light of the bandits' attacks on Damri, Sabongarin Damri, and Kalahe villages in Bakura Local Government Area, and recently, Maradun, where a number of casualties were recorded.
“We mustn’t allow the return of days when the bandits had a free hand to do as they wished. The rural folk in Zamfara and elsewhere must be allowed to have peace. Therefore, the momentum that has been developed must be sustained in order to bring closure to the activities of these murderers,” the president directed.
He extended condolences to the victims' relatives, as well as the state government and people, and added that the federal and state governments must work together to put an end to the awful crimes as soon as possible.
