After ECOWAS Chairman, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo told West Africans that "I am currently in Conakry, capital of Guinea, in my capacity as Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State of ECOWAS, together with the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, to hold talks with the military leadership in Guinea, led by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, centering largely on the fate of President Alpha Condé, amongst others", people have reacted massively to his message sent out to them.
A lot of people are surprised to see Cote D'Ivoire President, Alassane Ouattara to accompany Nana Akufo-Addo to Guinea.
Some people are saying that "how can Alassane Ouatarra the dictator, solve the problem of Guinea while he himself stayed in power more than 2 terms?" Some people feels that the only solution for the issue at hand is the courts of Guinea to decide who leads them but not "the criminal gang of ECOWAS".
Some people reacting to Nana Akufo-Addo's post said that they like the move by ECOWAS but they needs to be proactive because the issue at hand is a reactionary in nature.
"I like the move but ECOWAS needs to be much more proactive, this is reactionary in nature. I hope we learn a lesson going forward" another person stated.
"In as much as I do not support the military takeover, I strongly think it was prudent that you went there when Conde was messing up with the constitution. You didn't take any action until now. I see this move by ECOWAS as a late service to the people of Guinea and West Africa at large" someone told the leadership of ECOWAS while making attempt to solve the issue at hand in Guinea.
Another person told ECOWAS Leadership that "You guys should all bury your heads in shame. Why do you appear to be pressuring the people's liberators, the military junta, into reinstating the civil junta headed by dictator Alpha Conde? Who told you that the people of GUINEA need your intervention? To hell with ECOWAS.
What is worse is the presence of Alhasan Ouattara in this idle meeting. I can't imagine a man who twisted his country's constitution to overstay his grip on power mediating in a situation like GUINEA's. If you care about democracy in West Africa, tell your boyfriend, Alhasan Ouattara to relinquish power and conduct elections and handover to a democratically elected president; for his legitimate term ended more than a year ago".
