The wooden bridge connecting the Butre township has collapsed a while ago injuring a pregnant woman.
The severity of the injury is not yet known, but DAWURO sources understand that the injured has been rushed to the clinic for medical assistance.
The wooden bridge has been a major problem for the people of the town, who have made several complaints about it to the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly. These complaints, unfortunately, have not been attended to.
News sources in the Western Region understand that the Assembly Member doe the Butre Electoral Area, Hon Steve Wonders has made the rehabilitation of the bridge his biggest priority for the community.
We are yet to get him to speak on the recent development of the bridge collapse.
Butre is a historical town in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region. It was the seat of the Dutch Government in the colonial days when they were trading with the Ahantas.
