Plane Crash

Did you know that airplanes do not fly over the ka'ba? This is why.

Hello guys, today I bring to you one very awkward reality in the world today, and that is, why airplanes do not fly over the Ka’ba in Makkah. But before we get to the main point, please hit the follow but to follow me, for more informative and educative content. Now let’s get started.

Have you ever wondered why planes would not always fly in a straight line from one point to another? After all, they are in the air. What could possibly stop them? Well, there are plenty of reasons for that. While some are common, others might be hardy to explain. Let’s talk about the Ka’ba in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

There are two explanations as to why commercial airplanes never fly over Ka’ba in Makkah.

First one is said to be because of the magnetic anomaly over the place. That makes navigation of airplanes over there very difficult.

The next one is said to be because the force of gravity is stronger there, which means airplanes will have a hard time keeping their altitudes. Some even say birds cannot fly there either. This has never been proved though, because there are security helicopters that fly over there just fine. Many people doubt this theory for that matter.

The next explanation sounds a lot more plausible and it’s a bit down to earth.

First, there is no airport in Makkah, which makes it illogical for planes to fly over the city. This is because pilots will always try to fly over places where there are airports nearby so that they can at least land safely in terms of emergency.

This may sound strange because Makkah is visited by millions of people yearly. But the Saudi Arabian government is really strict in this regard; to not allow any airports in the city of Makkah.

Secondly, Makkah has a designated prohibited airspace, so no civil aircraft is allowed by law to fly over the city. And that is why you are likely to never see a plane over the Ka’ba.
