In Ghana, the last time we won a trophy was way back in the 1990s when Abedi Pele and other old players made history. Tony Yeboah, Tony Baffoe et al, have all won their Hearts desire with the Black Stars.
It's been a long time since they most pampered team came with their usual dynamics of lining up friends and family players. The Black Stars started generating some hatred with the players at their disposal and not winning a trophy.
But they are the most paid national team in the world. The much anticipated coach who is the nation's chosen one C.K Akonnor, has decided to name the next Black Stars call up. The players will be the usual team that qualified the team to AFCON.
In the just ended Super Clash between Hearts and Kotoko in our local scene, it is very clear that Salifu Ibrahim was not outstanding but very decisive with his decisions. This caught the interest of Coach C.K Akonnor to make the next call up with the presence of fixing some Hearts of Oak players like Salifu Ibrahim and Afriyie Barnieh et al.
The Black Stars now lacks creativity and potential forcing striker. But the combination of Afriyie Barnieh and Salifu Ibrahim with the supply from Afutu in the midfield. The popular name that has been given the close link is Salifu Ibrahim Di Maria, but we know he might not be just the only player to called to the senior national team.
