Something Good Is Coming - Ken Ofori Atta Breaks Silence On Why He Won't Resign As Finance Minister

The minister of finance, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta has finally reacted to ongoing calls by the opposition and some Ghanaians for him to resign as the finance minister.

Speaking at the ongoing NPP delegates conference at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ken Ofori Atta told the media that he will not resign. He added that there are better programs in place that will help save the economy. He added that a father cannot resign from being a father because of hardships.

He added that something good is coming that will bridge the balance of payment gab and provide support to it as well. He added that he is very confident that things will turn around soon. He is therefore urging Ghanaians to give more time to the government to make things better.

“I will not resign. It is almost like telling a father to resign from his children because he is changed his mind. There are times that decisions have to be made for the survival of a country and therefore if circumstances such as COVID or the Ukraine war occur which are not typical, it does change the environment, and sensible people will change their minds"

The engagement with the IMF will seek to provide balance-of-payments support as part of a broader effort to quicken Ghana’s build-back in the face of challenges induced by the COVID-19 pandemic and, recently, the Russia-Ukraine crises" he said.
