Newly elected Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has officially accepted to be the Presidential Candidate for the fourth time in a row, who will hand the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) a resounding victory.
The former president opined that, “We must win the election to enable us build the Ghana we want together [and] I pledge to lead you to a resounding victory come December 2024.”
Addressing party leaders and stalwarts at a ceremony to mark his victory at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, on Monday, May 15, 2023, the former president thanked the delegates for their vote of confidence and unshaking conviction that he is “the most suitable person with the experience and vision to lead our party the NDC to victory in 2024”.
“This margin of victory is deafening and emphatic and resounding and it is indicative of the unwavering singular intent of the NDC to win the 2024 Elections” he added.
Mr. Mahama further hinted that, he accepts the onerous responsibility placed on his shoulders with absolute humility and a deep sense of respect for the tough task that awaits them in resetting the nation to one that allows Ghanaians to regain their lost glory.
The NDC Leader revealed that the victory he chalked in the 2023 NDC Presidential Primaries is to liberate Ghanaians and create a better environment for all to thrive.
“[This victory] It’s about our people and the creation of a society that allows citizens to live a decent and dignified life. It is about expanding access to healthcare so that our mothers and sisters do not lose their lives carrying out their biological duty of procreation. It’s about the little children whose promising future is cut short because of a dangerous boat crossing in search of an education. It is also about managing our economy and finances in a manner that does not require us to appropriate the lifetime investment of our retired senior citizens and the middle class. This victory is about raising security and investment and funds for future generations and not just for spending in a day. It is about restoring trust once again in our institutions and engendering love and pride in the name; Ghana.”
The NDC’s flagbearer meanwhile, dedicated his victory to the memories of the party’s founding father, Jerry John Rawlings, Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills and Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as well as all falling comrades.
