Chelsea have currently intensified their pursuit of German club Bayern Munich's defender Nicklas Sule after they signed a replacement for him.
The London club has been monitoring the young and experienced defender for months, and it seems more likely that a summer move is possible.
Even though Thomas Tuchel may have just taken over the reigns at the west London club at the end of January, Tuchel is plotting ahead for the future and is planning on building a young and experienced team at the club.
The Bayern Munich defender has been in and out of the team all campaign and has seen his opportunities limited. And Hansi Flick Die Roten is likely to favour Upamecano ahead of him come next season.
The German side agreed a deal to sign the vibrant centre-back from RB Leipzig for an amount in the region of £37 million and Upamecano will likely make the move next season.
And this has prompted Chelsea to moved in for the German defensive beast according to reports.
But the move is not assured as Sule is happy at Bayern Munich, and manager Hansi trusts him hence he is likely to relish the challenge of Upamecano's arrival and will want to prove his worth in Germany.
The German side hasn't made their intentions clear as to whether they wish to sell the defender and there is a chance they might renew his contract at the club.
Further up the field, Chelsea are understood to have made contact with Borussia Dortmund Striker erling Harland.
