The traditional eight year cycle where power changes hand from the New Patriotic Party to the National Democratic Congress, or vice versa will be due in the next General Elections to be held inn 2024. The status quo which has be the case since 1992 is nearly a sure banker.
But as the Ghanaian voter seems to get "enlightened" by each elections, shifting from the politics of political, religious and ethnic affiliation, to issue based political decision making, the chances of any party that does well to break the streak is becoming brighter.
Could this be the time to break the cycle to maintain NPP for three conservative times?
Judging by what the current president, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo is doing, NDC need to work harder to win power in the next elections.
For instance, the free education program the presidents has introduced in his first term of office has made a lot of parents, who hitherto couldn't have afforded education in high school now easily send their children to school. Many electorates will want to reward the NPP for this good done them.
The following infrastructure done by the president puts John Dramani Mahama future aspirations of being a president in Ghana in Jeopardy.
The Tema Interchange.
The Pokuasi four tier Interchange.
One District One Factory.
Given that John Dramani Mahama is the likely candidate to lead the National Democratic Congress to the 2024 Elections, the stakes are really high for him to change the date of the results he had in the two proceeding Elections.
