In a bid to be able to track people who use their phones/ SIM cards for criminal activities, the government through the Ministry of Communications headed by Hon. Ursula Owusu is embarking on a SIM card re-registration exercise. Instead of joining long queues which would take people’s precious time, a greater part of it can be done by the individuals at the comfort of their homes.
Below are the steps involved in doing so. It is in two phases. The first stage links one’s national ID to their SIM card.
- Dial the short code *404#
- Enter your Ghana card PIN ( Letters and figures without hyphen)
- Confirm Ghana Card PIN
- Enter username
- Enter first name(s)
- Enter Date of Birth(Format: DDMMYYY)
- Select Sex
- Confirm details
- Submit details provided after confirmation
Note that you will get a confirmation with a unique code when it is successfully done.
If it is unsuccessful after three attempts due to verification after three attempts, you will be informed to contact the National Identification Authority office near you.
The second phase is for you to visit your service provider to complete the stage of the registration.
