A veteran journalist and the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior, revealed that the shocking rejection of the 2022 budget statement by the minority Members of Parliament (MPs) was a complete departure from the intelligence he got before yesterday.
Kwesi Pratt Junior made this statement on 'ALHAJI & ALHAJI' on Pan Africa television this morning, 27th November 2021, when he revealed that he had gotten the intelligence that some NDC Members of Parliament will join the majority to vote to approve the 2022 budget.
According to Kwesi Pratt, the rejection of the 2022 budget and what happened thereafter in Parliament yesterday was very shocking to him.
"It was shocking to me because before yesterday, the intelligence we were gathering was that there were some Members of Parliament on the NDC side who were going to join government to approve the budget."
Kwesi Pratt indicated that what happened yesterday was a complete departure from that intelligence that he had gathered. "What happened yesterday was that 137 Members of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament stood their grounds and acted in unison to block this budget."
Kwesi Pratt revealed that he doesn't know what happened between the time he got the intelligence and yesterday, but whatever happened perhaps is good.
According to Kwesi Pratt, after all the theatricals and the maneuvering by the government, the vote on the 2022 budget was 137 to zero, so the budget has been blocked.
Kwesi Pratt added that he is convinced beyond doubt that the base of the NDC have been reenergized again because everybody was losing hope, but now people have hope that after all, something can come out of this Parliament, that if for nothing at all, the government can be told in the fact that it cannot always have its way.
