This new accident happened on Monday, 17th May, 2021 when a heavy tractor accidentally crashed into a tricycle which was packed at the roadside opposite the Kwapong Royal Palace.
The tractor driver was coming from the main lorry station towards the Methodist School.The report indicates that, the tractor driver lost control of the brake pedal and drove into the tricycle which was picking passengers.
The tricycle driver who is popularly known as Nana Kojo saw what was about to happen and decided to get out from the machine but unfortunately for him, one of his legs was still inside the tricycle when the tractor front tyres crashed into it. The toenails and one foot was crashed. The tricycle driver was first taken to the Kwapong health centre but was immediately referred to Goaso Government Hospital following the severity of the injury. He is still receiving medical treatment at the Goaso Government Hospital.
There were three passengers at the back seat including two pupils from the Apostolic International school and a woman from the Kwapong community. These passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Kwapong health centre yesterday. But they have been discharged from the medical facility after minor treatment.
The Police CID from the Kwapong Police Station arrested the tractor driver yesterday to assist the police carry out their investigation into the accident and was later released on bail conditions. The police also went to the Kwapong Health Centre to take the Statements of the three passengers on admission.
The tractor and the tricycle are packed infront of the Kwapong Police Station.
