The economy of Ghana has seen a tremendous growth in the last couple of years. This is as a result of the relative peace we have in the country that allows peaceful change of government. The country's democracy is seen as the pinnacle in the sub region where opposition government, the press as well as citizens can express their displeasure about government's policies and help put the government in check. This has effectively led to a very conducive business environment. Many Ghanaians have taken advantage of the booming business environment to create and enhance their wealth. Consequently, Ghana can boast of a lot of millionaires and billionaires emerging from the economy. There has been a debate regarding wheather the nation can boast of any recognized billionaire(s) in US$ over the years. However, according to Forbes, an American based organization which is reputed for identifying and publishing richest people in the world has identified the following Ghanaians as billionaires in US$
1. Charles Amanfo, $1.46 billion. Mr Charles is the Chairman of Kampac Group of Companies which is headquartered in the UAE. His business empire operates in diverse field with, Kampac Oil as his primary activities. Mr Charles Amanfo is on course to creating the largest oil city in the Philippines, which when done with, will be among the top 50 Oil and Gas companies in the world.
2. Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffour- $1.2 billion. The Ghanaian politician and physician served as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia from 2001 to 2007. He was also appointed the Minister of Defense under his brother, John Agykum Kuffour. Since 2017 he has been working as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the State Security and National Insurance Trust(SSNIT)
