Sad News emanating from Tutuka Kenyase in the Ahafo region suggest that 5 People have died in the Newmont Gold Dam. The casualties included two primary six pupils of the Kenyase Tutuka Roman Catholic Primary School.
They are, David Opoku who is 13 years of age and Thomas Opoku also 14 years of age.
Confirming the sad incident to Adom TV news, Unit Commitee chairman for the area Madam Angelina pleaded with Government to cease all movement around the area.
According to her, they had buried three people already in the same Dam.
" We've buried 3 people in the same area. When we heard that the two innocent young men were drowning, we sent deep divers to go on rescue. They came back to tell us that the dam is very cold and deep. We had to pour libation and incantations before the two dead bodies started floating" Nana Yaw who is the Okyeame for Tutuka also confirmed.
As to what the young boys were doing around that area, Nobody was able to tell.
" Five people are Dead. Yes, five! The Newmont Gold officials should close that dam. It's dangerous" Youth leader Opoku Prempeh told Adom TV news.
