“Nobis Nitendum Est” as the school’s motto says, means “Ours is to Strive”. Indeed, representatives of Odorgonno SHS for this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), have truly exposed their secret for reaching the top.
The National Science and Maths Quiz is an annual science and mathematics content-based national level quiz competition, for senior high schools in Ghana. It has been produced by Primetime Limited, an education-interest advertising and public relations agency, since 1993.
Odorgonno is a Secondary School located at Awoshie, in the Greater Accra Region.
Over the years, the school have not produced very fit contestants to represent the school at the National level of the NSMQ contest. In 2021, Odorgonno SHS wowed their contending schools; West Africa SHS and OLAM SHS after they ended the contest with 52 points. Hence, securing a place in the One-eighth stage of the competition.
Below were the contest results:
The win by Odorgonno Senior High School was an answer to their prayers as the school joined Chemu SHS and St. Thomas Aquinas in the one-eighth stage. Unfortunately, that was the end of the journey for them.
Fast forward, to 2022, Odorgonno has come back stronger and better, hoping to make it to the grand finale.
2022 NSMQ contestants from Odorgonno were:
•Duah Israel (alias Lil Shark, from 3 science 2) - on the left-hand side, and
•Ottis, on the right-hand side (3 science 5).
Starting with their first contest this year at the Greater Accra Regional finals, Odorgonno contested with Ebenezer SHS, Accra High SHS, and Ada SHTS, and ended the keen contest with 36 points. Hence, securing a place at the National championship.
Well done, Odorgonno SHS. Your performance was an impressive one!

Did you watch the contest? If yes, which school did you support?
Some controversies say the Free SHS has also affected the performance of these students. How true is that?
