This followed the decision of the First Lady's to refund all the allowances paid to her since 2017 till date amounting to Eight hundred and ninety-nine thousand and ninety-seven, eighty-four pesewas (GHS899, 097.84).
The said money which is expected to be returned by the second Lady has amounted to Eight hundred and eighty-seven thousand, four hundred and eighty-two Ghana Cedis(GHS887,482). Thus all the allowances paid to her from 2017 till date.
The reason that triggered both the First and the Second Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo Addo and Hajia Samira Bawumia respectively is due to the pressure mounted on them by some Ghanaians after a recommendation by Ntiamoah-Baidoo committee of Parliament came out with decisions to review the allowances paid to the wives of the President and Vice President.
She has willfully decided to follow the footsteps of the First Lady's action by returning to the state what she was given.
Do the wives of the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Republic of Ghana supposed to be paid for doing nothing for the economy? Isn't their husbands supposed to take care of them with the huge some of monies being paid them?
Are they even entitle to be given allowances? Share your thoughts and comments with us in the comments section below.
