In the early hours of this morning, a serious accident was reported on the Accra Tema motor way. Several people were injured and the tollbooth destroyed but no death was recorded. The driver of the tipper-truck was arrested by the police.
It was reported that driver of the tipper- truck also sustained serious injury. Report indicates that the tipper-truck driver was over speeding so they weren't surprised to see him crashed the tollbooth and other cars which were around the tollbooth and injuring several people in the process.
The injured people have been taken to Tema General hospital receiving treatment. Situational report indicates that no death was recorded although some were seriously injured. Collection of tolls were suspended because the tollbooth attendants were traumatised by the accident.
Information I have received indicates that the attendants have now resumed work. Although it was serious accident but not a fatal one I would say. No deaths were recorded over there. The police have started their investigations into the accident. They want to find out the root cause of the accident.
