Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, a Pan-Africanist, Lawyer and a former Director of the Keyan Anti-Corruption Commision has expressed his disappointment in the presidency of the Akuffo-Addo led administration. He cited the payment of salaries to spouses of the President and his Vice, and numerous instances of scandals that hit the presidency bemoaning the fact that President Akuffo-Addo started his tenure of office with so much enthusiasm and zeal but unfortunately, all that has now been culminated with the mismanagement of the national resources.
"The problem with our leaders is that if you see good in them, they disappoint you very quickly and there's a sense I'm beginning to feel disappointed in President Akuffo-Addo" he said, in a zoom video call with Maxwell Nkansah. He also stated that President Akuffo-Addo started quite well with good ideas on moving Ghana from a status of borrowing to a country beyond aid and industrialisation through the One District-One factory. But unfortunately, the president's words haven't matched his actions, citing the "Fix The Country" demonstration as a clear sign that all is not well with the current governance and the hardships amongst majority of people, especially the youth of country. He said however that, President Akuffo-Addo still has ample time to redeem himself.
Prof. Lumumba is known for criticising African leaders so hard for their failure in ridding Africa and particularly their individual countries of corruption and poverty. One of his famous statements is "The problem with Africa is that, those who have the ideas have no power and those with the power have completely no idea on how to make Africa a better place for all to live in.
