S/R: Hon. Lawyer Abu Jinapor donates 200 dual desks to Larabanga English and Arabic primary school

According to Bole based Nkilgi FM, The member of parliament for Damongo constituency, Hon. Lawyer Abu Jinapor donates 200 dual desks to Larabanga English and Arabic primary school upon request of the school administration to the honorable mp.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor has donated 200 dual desk classroom furniture to the Larabanga English and Arabic Primary School in Larabanga in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Damongo Constituency, Alhaji Adams Braimah who presented the desks to the school on behalf of the MP said, the donation is the fulfillment of a request made by the school authorities to the MP.

He said education is very key to the development of the municipality and very dear to the MP, who according to the chairman will do everything possible to support not just Larabanga schools but all schools in the Damongo Constituency.

The West Gonja Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Akey Ferguson who received the furniture on behalf of the school expressed gratitude to the MP for his timely intervention since most of the classes especially in the newly constructed 6-unit classroom block have no furniture.

He said the problem of pupils in the school studying on the bare floor will soon be a thing of the past and used the opportunity to thank Hon. Jinapor on his effort towards the upliftment of education in the West Gonja Municipality.

Mr Akey Ferguson added that, the MP has so far done a lot including taking the full cost of tuition and payment of fees for the common mock exam for candidates who will be writing the 2021 BECE exams. Also he is paying the full cost of maintainace of vehicle of the Ghana Education Service which was grounded for more than a year.

Mr Akey Ferguson further appealed for more initiatives from the Hon MP for the constituents to ensure quality education in the West Gonja Municipality.

Headteacher of the Larabanga English and Arabic school, Mr Osman Briandeen on behalf of the school thanked the MP for coming to the aid of school adding that, furniture shortage was a major problem confronting the school and assured the municipal director of education that, proper care will be taken to ensure the furniture is used for a long time.

He also appealed for the renovation of the old school block and the extension of electricity to the school to help pupils in the school learn especially at night.

Meanwhile, 150 of the furniture are to be given to the primary level with the remaining 50 expected to be given to the kindergarten according to the MP’s directive.
