The National Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Psychological Association (GPA), Mrs. Joy Anima Deborah spelled out some leading causes of depression in our world.
According to her, an individual facing the problem of disappointment, extreme sadness and poverty is at a high risk of being depressed for a long period of time.
Mrs Joy Anima Debrah's statement followed a series of suicidal stories that were linked to depression.
Speaking on Kaakyire Ofori Ayim's AM Drive featured in Atinka FM, the National Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Psychological Association (GPA) stated that study shows, despite the fact that these forms of depression do not automatically lead to suicide, the thought of it sets in when the individual undergoing this phase is not attended to.
Also, since the process is a gradual one , the individual involved is not aware of this ailment.
People who go through the extreme cases of these cases tend to isolate themselves from others in order to skip all forms of stigmatization..
She finally advised that relatives of people undergoing depression seek proper healthcare and provide the needed attention to their relatives in need of it.
