Over the weekend, President Akufo-Addo was in the United States. He had meetings with a number of people. Famous of them was his encounter with the mayor of Houston who presented him with a cowboy hat. A photo of Akufo-Addo in the hat trended in the country afterwards. The President, who is also a co-Chair of the Group of Eminent Advocates of the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development also reminded world leaders to assist in hastening the 17 UN SDGs.
Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of bridging the gap of poverty. According to him this will help in facilitating a prosperous and peaceful world. Well, the President, today, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 updated his Social media handles on Twitter and Facebook with his address he delivered. The post is gathering praising comments for the president for his commitment to making Ghana a better place.
On Facebook, it was rosy for the president. However, on twitter, many were not enthused with what the president is doing. They called on him to fix the country and stop talking. Actually, with today being Founder’s Day, many thought that the first post of the president would center on former president Kwame Nkrumah. However, looking at recent happenings of Danquah Busia elements and Nkrumaists, over who founded Ghana, only few expected the president to pay tribute to Kwame Nkrumah in his first post.
