Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the National Chief Imam Dr. Sheikh Osumanu Nuhu Shaributu are in Ejura to commisurate with the bereaved families and victims of recent shootings. The two national leadership landed in Ejura this morning in two Ghana Armed Forces helicopters.
Their first point of call was the palace of Ejuramanhene Barima Osei Hwedie II.
Dr. Bawumia sympathised with the chief and the entire Ejura especially the zongo community for the unfortunate development. He assured the people government had empanelled a 3 member committee to investigate the occurrences which will complete their report in the next 9 days. Dr. Bawumia called for calm and seizure of discussion on compensation until the committee finishes it's work.
He encouraged all to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure an amicable resolution of the impasse.
On his part Dr. Sheikh Osumanu Nuhu Shaributu called on the youth to exercise restraint while the committee of inquiry delve into the matter. He said Islam is a religion of peace. Therefore the people should embrace peaceful coexistence with their colleagues.
The Chief Iman was worried that Muslim communities have been tagged with notoriety and poverty. He challenged Muslims to work together to overturn this tag.
