The Ghana Statistical Service has made it known to all media platforms that, it will release the population of Ghanaians today, September 22, 2021.
This comes after the completion of collation of provisional results of the 2021 Population and Housing Census.
The census started on June 27, 2021.
Professor Samuel Annim, who is government Statistian is set to address the press conference in Accra to make the country’s official population known.
It is however estimated from several international and local bodies that, the population of Ghana is more than 31 million.
Ghanaians are counted each and every ten years. There are several benefits of census which may include;
#1. The census ensures that each community gets the right number of representatives in the government and informs your socioeconomic development planning
#2. Determining the number of taxable adults.
In 2010, after the census night, Ghana had a total population of 24.78 million persons.
In the year 2000, the population of Ghanaians were 19.28 million.
This shows that, there was a 30% increase in the population.
Ghana Statistical Service will declare the results today and give us all updates concerning several ratios of male and female ratio in the country and population per region.
