Murder

It is regrettable that the investigation into Armed Suale has not been completed – Akufo-Addo

President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his deepest remorse over the assassination of Ahmed Suale and the failure to reach a conclusion on the investigation into his death.

He assures Ghanaians, however, that no conclusions have been made since the police are not devoted to bringing the offenders to justice.

The President stated that citizens should abandon any notions or accusations that the government is concealing up the murder of the investigative journalist since the administration has no interest in covering up who killed him.

“It is a source of great grief for me that the murder of Ahmed Suale has not yet been solved, but believe me when I say that this is not due to a lack of police commitment,” he said.

“I could not have stated it more emphatically that the administration has no interest in concealing whatsoever or anyone involved. There is no evidence that his death was ordered by the authorities.

“His killer will be apprehended, prosecuted, and punished in the end,” he promised.

Ahmed Suale, a Tiger Eye employee, was shot and killed on January 16, 2019, in Madina, Accra, by gunmen who are yet to be apprehended by police in their investigations.

The Ghana Police Service's Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has yet to make any arrests as a result of its investigations.
