The anniversary which marks the annual celebration of when the club kumasi Asante kotoko was formed.
A club known for achievement in Ghana and abroad was formed by 13 young men led by a driver, Kwasi Kuma and was assisted by a close friend Lawrence yaw Asamoah who was an electrician.
Kwasi kuma was from Nyankyerase near kwadaso, a suburb in kumasi. Kuma return from Accra with aims of forming a club of his own.
He then formed kumasi Rainbow in the year 1924, two years later name it Ashanti united, in 1931 decided to change it to kumasi Titanic.
1935 Mr. James Frimpong popularly known as teacher frimpong in kumasi government school now Asem boys school, got young energetic guys for the club and then suggested for a change of name from Atom to kumasi asante kotoko.
They took permission from then Asantehene Nana sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh 2 .the club was officially inaugurated before a great assembly of chiefs on August 31,1935.
The porcupine warriors have played in 7 Africa champions cup/CAF champions league grand final, winning 2of them.
They first won the trophy in DR Congo, then Zaire to beat them 2 goals to one infront of thier gallant supporters.
Asante kotoko have 23 Ghana premier league trophies, 8 MTN FA cup, 2 super cup, 12 Ghana Swag cup, 3 Ghana telecom cup, 4 Ghalca top four trophies and 2 CAF champion league trophies.
