Italy mariners rescue us and treat us like refugees - Ghanaian illegal migrant reveals

Karim Kabore, Ghanaian barber and agent has disclosed that he has witnessed many young Africans travel to Europe illegally and most often they are treated as refugees.

Speaking with SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami, Karim revealed that after staying in Senegal for some time, he began the trade with his brother after working there for a while.

“I have helped about many people to Europe as an agent. They are not all Ghanaians, but mostly west Africans. They are charged based on their travel arrangements. From Ghana to Libya, Libya to Italy, Ghana to Italy etc,” he stated.

According to Karim, his trips to Libya are by road and they mostly last a week due to the pandemic. He added that even though it is illegal, “living in Ghana has become difficult, no jobs, so people will leave.

Even pregnant women go to Italy by sea and become citizens eventually. Some people make about 3,000gh a month in Libya. So for now, travelling seems to be the best option for people,” Karim added.
