A heavy rainstorm that hit part of Tamale on the evening of April, 13 2021 has destroyed a portion of the Ahyaaideen Islamic School also known as "Jannahwari" at Lamasheigu-North in the Tamale South Constituency.
The strong winds which lasted for almost three hours ripped of the entire Primary 1 and 2 roofing of the school building, forcing pupils to join other class for teaching and learning.
The situation has been described by the school authority as dangerous and worrying as they are compelled to make pupils of P1 and P2 to join other classroom for tution amidst the spread of the deadline Coronavirus.
Assistant proprietor of the school Afa Osmanu said the school needs an immediate rehabilitation of the damaged classrooms. He called on the Minority leader (Tamale-South MP), Haruna Iddrisu and other philanthropist to urgently come to the aid of the school children.
According to him, "See the way the storm has ripped off the classroom block. It is sad to see children hang around because a class is full. It's therefore our collective responsibility to help the children as soon as possible.
They are worried that the pupils of primary 1 and 2 have to join their colleagues in a different classroom for teaching and learning amidst the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
