Parenting is quite demanding and it can be very hard at times. Its to say that we all loose our patience from time to time and we certainly all make mistakes. But there are many things we say to our children than we can really hurt them. This is not limited to just venting our frustration on them.
In fact some forms of praise can also be harmful. In this face we look at things parents should not say about thier children or to thier children.
1.Never say "what's wrong with you".
When a trusted adult indicates that something is wrong with a child, the child will internalize it and will belief it. They will ask themselves that what is wrong with them - and they wont be able to find the answer.
2.You are being too sensitive.
Here the child will most likely believe that they cannot express thier feelings when such words are said to them. This can be damaging because the child will believe that truely something is wrong with them.
3.Stop being such a baby.
Children are not expected to behave like adults and vice-versa. If children behave too childish there can be a reason to that. Kids might revert to old patterns for a reason of being anxious, scared or nervous.
These words might mean not much to an elderly but more to a child.
