TikTok was all abuzz after a video chronicled a woman giving birth to a baby on a plane. Julia Hansen was on a flight traveling from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Honolulu, Hawaii, on Delta Airlines when a fellow passenger unexpectedly birthed a baby. Hansen recorded the event from her seat on the plane, captivating viewers all over the world.
Shocking Birth about the baby
What is most shocking is that the new mother, Lavinia Tiana Mounga, did not even know that she was pregnant when she went into labor. Mounga gave birth to the baby boy over the Pacific Ocean with three hours left until the plane could safely land. The new father was not on board the plane.
Once the plane arrived in Hawaii, it was greeted by EMT workers to escort the newborn and mother. The healthy baby was named Raymond Kaimana Wade Kobe Lavaki Mounga. The pair will need to stay in Hawaii until the baby is ready to travel back to Utah.
It was a fortuitous situation for the mother and infant. Because there were three NICU nurses on board the plane as passengers, Mounga and her bundle of joy were in good hands. Delta Airlines issued a statement praising the crew for how well they handled the situation, guiding the mother and baby to safety. The plane was also equipped with the emergency medical equipment needed to handle the birth.
A GoFundMe account has been set up by Mounga’s sisters to help to pay for the costs of becoming a new parent unexpectedly. So far, nearly $6,000 of the $20,000 goal has been raised.
