As a parent, one of your jobs is to teach your child to behave. This is a job that requires time and patience. Discipline is the structure that helps the child fit into the real world happily and effectively. It is the foundation for the development of the child’s own self-discipline.

Beating a child is the gateway to child abuse. Although sometimes our society’s accepts of it as a form of discipline, it has the effect of increasing the incidence of child abuse in our culture. Corporal punishment and child abuse are both on the same violence continuum. When parents beats their children, they are usually responding impulsively in anger and these thorough cain sometimes can lead to dead.

Currently, the DCI officers in Kilimani Nairobi have begun investigations after a 15-year-old form one student; was beaten to death by her family members.

The detectives in Nairobi County, are currently apprehending family members for killing their child after canning her thoroughly.

The minor was pronounced dead on arrival at the same hospital on Friday night.

The clinical officer confirmed that her body was covered in bruises, indicating that she had been severely beaten.

As a consequence, abused children report that they provoked their parents into using corporal punishment. When these children become adults they continue to cling to the myth that they were bad and the parents good.

In extreme situations, physical punishment can lead to more severe and abusive behavior towards children. Abuse can cause injury, loss of custody, arrest, jail-time, and in even the death of a child.

As a parent, it can be overwhelming to try and find an effective method of discipline. If you are using physical punishment, consider using other methods to promote good behavior in your child.
