Woman Gives Birth on A Plane Despite Not Knowing She Was Pregnant

Since she 'didn't realize' she was pregnant, the woman was permitted to fly in the third trimester of her pregnancy.

A woman who had no idea she was pregnant gave birth on a plane halfway through a six-hour flight in a shocking incident. Notably, the woman known as Lavinia Mounga was allowed to travel while pregnant in the third trimester because she "didn't know" she was expecting.

Last week, she was flying to Hawaii with her family when she started getting contractions. Thankfully, three neonatal intensive care unit nurses, as well as a physician's assistant and a family medicine doctor, were on board to assist with the delivery of the baby in the bathroom.

After a fellow passenger Julia Hansen shared a clip of the mother (without revealing her face) while hearing the cries of an infant, the video of the incident went viral on social media. Hansen starts the TikTok video by whispering, "A baby was just born on this plane." Passengers can be heard applauding and congratulating the woman for her amazing mid-air feat shortly after.

“As most of you have already heard, we just had a child born on the plane, so let's give the mother a good round of applause,” the cabin crew manager says. “Congratulations.”

After the video went viral, Lavinia tweeted, "Overwhelmed in the best ways." After he was safely delivered aboard the plane, she called her baby Raymond Kaimana Wade Kobe Lavaki Mounga.

When the plane landed, paramedics wheeled the woman off the plane as she held her newborn baby in her arms. Meanwhile, Ethan Magalei, the baby's father, wrote on Facebook that he was astounded by Raymond's arrival, which he characterized as a "miracle," and thanked those who assisted with the birth.
