It is no secret that most people know the Kumasi Zoo only by name and location. Children and Foreigners are the groups who seem to find interest in what the site offers. Even though some visited the zoo during childhood, most adults do not see the need to visit the place, not even once in a while. What can be the way forward?
Kumasi Zoological Gardens is a popular landmark in the Ashanti Region. It can be attributed to the fact that it is located in the heart of Kumasi. People can praise it on the other places of interest around the zoo; In its environ, you can find the Kejetia Central Market, the Kumasi Centre of National Culture(Cultural Centre) and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH).
On the part of Ghanaians, especially Kumasi inhabitants, we have to change our long-existing culture, viewing recreation as a waste of time. Workers need to take some time off and enjoy such sites in the society. In summary, we should stop using the facility for directions only and start exploring it.
The Managers of the Kumasi Zoo need to do a lot. The euphoria that used to surround the site is no more. Innovations and strategies should be developed and implemented to help elevate the system. Authorities have to invest more in the education and publicity.
