Hammond rejects Akufo-Addo's offer – GhanaPoliticsOnline.com"/>
Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Kobina Tahir Hammond has berated a section of the Ghanaian youth who subjected President Akufo-Addo to jeers at Global Citizens Festival held in Accra.
He says it will only take people with "Coconut heads" who embarrassed their leader in the manner that the youth did at the musical concert.
President Akufo-Addo was booed when he mounted the Global Citizen Festival stage held at the Black Star Square on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
Speaking to the press on that unfortunate incident, Mr Hammond, who is a former Energy Minister, asked the youth to show respect to their leaders despite the challenges they may be facing in their country.
"Let it even be a political rally, but it is not a political rally….You must be patient, when you meet and are doing your things, accord respect to the elderly. Not that because of politics you go abusing people”, he told reporters.
He added that the behavior of the youth on the night proves why many hold they believe that they are not ready and lack what it takes to govern the country when given the opportunity.
"It's not possible for government to be left to the youth, you cannot do it, you won't understand. You have all left your beards, and have been roaming town but there is nothing in your head", he said.
