Labianca Case-Ghanaians React As Chiefs Finally Defend COS Member And Seek Nana Addo's Intervention

TV3 Ghana posted a picture of Ahanta Chiefs on its heavily followed social media platform. Interestingly, the post was captioned about the fact that Ahanta Chiefs defend Labianca CEO and seek Nana Addo's intervention.

Well, the Labianca case has been trending for some time as the Special Prosecutor has unleashed his report about an amount of GHS 1.074million allegedly unpaid taxes recovered.

The Customs Boss, Colonel(Rtd) Damoah, and the Chamber of Trade and Freights have denied any wrongdoing by the Labianca Owner, Mrs. Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh.

The owner also doubles as a member of the council of state and a member of the governing board of Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority.

There were various calls by civil organizations to relieve Mrs. Asomah-Hinneh of her public office positions but the President has not made any announcement on this yet. Are these calls, for her to resign for further investigations to continue, right?

Interestingly, the Chiefs of Ahanta have given their unflinching support to the COS member and have asked the government to protect her business.

They have also indicated that she started her businesses from the scratch by dint of hard work and should rather be encouraged in her fight to employ more Ghanaians to reduce the unemployment rate.

Are the Chiefs of Ahanta saving the COS member? How do Ghanaians perceive such a defense from the Ahanta Chiefs?

Well, many Ghanaians have reacted vehemently to the post. Whilst some Ghanaians have asked that the chiefs allow the law to take control, other citizens were simply worried about the democracy of the country.

Many Ghanaians seem not to agree with the respected chiefs. What should be done to promote local businesses in instances such as this? Should the plea of the chiefs be given attention without scrutinizing the issues?

What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion?
