The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is currently on tour at the Upper West Region.
And yesterday, Friday 9th October, 2020 the President as part of his two day working tour to the Region visited Wa, Busa, and Mengwe.
President Nana Addo in his visit to these communities addressed a meeting with the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs and cut the sod for the construction of the Upper West Waste Recycling and Composite. Plant.
He also inspected ongoing work on the 29 kilometre Wa-Bulenga Road, which according to the President will be completed in 30 months.
But what was most controversial is when the picture below was seen among his post on Facebook. According to these nurses in the Upper West Region, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has employed fifty four thousand ( 54,000 ) nurses since he came into office.
This is outrageous, isn't it? This is because Ghana currently have about seventy thousand ( 70,000 ) nurses, meaning Nana Addo's predecessors only employed twenty thousand nurses.
This figure was challenged by Former President John Dramani Mahama on December 2019 when Nana Addo's administration released this figure.
The Nurses and Midwives Council during that period also confirms that the number of nurses in Ghana does not exceed 70,000.
But President Mahama was not able to give us the number that his administration employed so that we can do the calculation and know how many employed by Ex President John Evans Atta Mills and Former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
The fact of the matter is, because of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) EX President Mahama took Ghana to, he was restricted to employ more nurses into the system comparably to the number that Nana Addo's administration has employed.
But this number that Nana Addo's administration is providing is also too much. There are still some un-posted nurses in Ghana.
And we urge the Nurses and Midwives Council or whichever institution of the nurses to keep updated record of the number of employed nurses year by year for future sake. This is because this is the second time am seeing this number of nurses employed within three and half years.
Some Ghanaians on Nana Addo's official Facebook page even said that these nurses in the picture below are being used for propaganda work.
