President Akuffo-Addo Is Frustrating MPs; No Bills Passed Since January -Minority Caucus

The Minority Caucus in Parliament are complaining about how President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party government are frustrating their work as legislators and hence sabotaging the growth of the national economy.

Speaking on Adom News on Saturday evening [June 5, 2021] the first Deputy Minority Leader who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Banda, Honorable Ahmed Ibrahim, said that the failure of President Nana Akuffo-Addo and his government to present major bills to the Parliament House for consideration is a deliberate effort to frustrate their work and subsequently sabotage the growth of the country.

He said that during their third sitting in Parliament, the majority leader Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, announced that major bills shall be presented to the House for consideration. However, this is the six month of the year and nothing has been done. He said that not even the various boards has been formed.

"I remember in our third meeting in the House, the majority leader [Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu] made it known to us that major bills shall be presented for consideration and approval. But as I'm speaking now, not a single bill has been brought. I believe they are deliberately doing this to frustrate our work and sabotaging development," Ahmed Ibrahim claims.

"This is the sixth month and the Akuffo-Addo led government is unwilling to form the Boards of Corporations, Agencies, and various Departments to spearhead the activities of the House. All these brings some form of checks and balances so their non-existence fundamentally opens the opportunity for corruption to thrive," Honorable Armed Ibrahim further explains.
