The news that the government of Ghana wants to purchase a new presidential jet for the presidency has generated uproars in the country.
The minority in Parliament have also spoken against it and have promised to shoot it down in Parliament should the government continue to push for the purchase of a new presidential jet.
Today's episode of 'THE KEYPOINTS' program on TV3 saw the head of the legal team of the NDC, Abraham Amaliba, and the Communication Director of the NPP, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, banter each other as to whether it is viable for the government to purchase a new presidential jet.
During their back and forth argument, Yaw Buaben Asamoah told Abraham Amaliba that he will not accept it from him that former President John Dramani Mahama only flew once in a commercial flight as he was alleging.
According to Abraham Amaliba, the only time that former President John Dramani Mahama traveled with a commercial flight was when he flew outside Ghana, and the presidential jet had to go to France for maintenance. So, John Dramani Mahama came home on a commercial flight.
Abraham Amaliba also revealed that former President John Dramani Mahama has also used a chartered flight once, which didn't cost him 15,000 dollars per hour as President Akufo Addo, but it cost him 7,000 dollars per hour. The same amount that will cost him flying our presidential jet.
Yaw Buaben Asamoah interjected and disagreed with the submission of Abraham Amaliba.
According to Yaw Buaben Asamoah, he can't take the words of Abraham Amaliba for it that Former President John Dramani Mahama only flew once in a commercial flight.
"We have to review the whole diary of his presidential travels to be certain. I will not accept that from you that President Mahama flew only once commercially, it is not justifiable."
Yaw Buaben Asamoah vehemently disputed Abraham Amaliba's disclosure that Former President John Dramani Mahama only flew once in a commercial flight.
