About twenty -two personalities have joined the fray to jostle for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La-Nkwantanag Municipal Assembly (LaNMA) in the Greater Accra Region.
There are as many as twenty-two supporters made up of current and old Constituency executive members of the party.
According to reports, all twenty -two are crisscrossing the corridors of power, the Jubille House to be favoured in the choice of MCE in the second term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
So far key among the names that have popped up as a replacement for Jenifer Dede Adjabeng, the current MCE for the Assembly are Dan Fosu, the Constituency General Secretary of the party and an elder of the party as well as former head of Radio Univers at the Communications Department of the University of Ghana, Alhaji Siddiq, former Constituency Chairman, Micheal Kofi Mckenzie, Micheal Forjour, Constituency Youth Organizer, Wilberforce Darko, Constituency Research Officer.
Others are Choro Adams Padoh, former Assemblymember for Danfa Electoral Area, and a tall list of others who are expected to vetted beginning next week.
Meanwhile, credible information picked up by this portal has it that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the La-Nkwatanang Municipal Assembly (LaNMA) in the Greater Accra Region is among the tall list of MCEs who will be losing their jobs in the second term of the administration of the His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Per the rules being fashioned out by the party in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, led by Dan Kweku Botwe when the sitting Member of Parliament(MP) is of the same tribe as the MCE, the MCE has to be sacrificed, a source at the party office in Accra told this portal
According to the source, series of meetings have been held with the RCC and the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development over the chances of some of these MCEs in the second term of the party from the region.
The matter of Madina, the source hinted a meeting has been held in Accra and the conclusion was that once the Member of Parliament on the ticket of the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Francis Xavier Sosu is a Ewe man from the Volta Region, the MCE can also not be from the Ewe tribe so one has to be sacrificed.
And once the MCE position is appointed the MCE has to be relieved of her post for the appointment of a new personality for the position of MCE for the Assembly.
The source said, Jenifer Dede Afagadzi had to be sacrificed going forward to appease all the electorate in the municipality.
The source told this portal the two personalities at the helm of leadership of the Madina Constituency cannot come from the same tribe adding this can be detrimental to the party’s fortunes in the Constituency going into the 2024 general elections.
The source explained that the party intends to use this to create an environment for all tribes to live in harmony everywhere in the region.
'We don't want to be seen as not being fair to the other tribes in a constituency with over one hundred and fifty thousand population, the source stresses.
It is, however, not clear the number of MCEs and District Chief Executives(DCEs) who will lose their positions in the region.
But trust this portal to bring you the details as to when the news break.
