Stop Chasing Ants When Elephants are Begging To Be Caught - NPP Activist letter to SP Kissi Agyabeng

A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Social Media commentators, P.K Sarpong has in a letter addressed to the Special Prosecutor of Ghana, Kissi Agyabeng admonished the former University of Ghana, Legon Lecturer to focus on more important cases in his quest to execute his duties in the Novel Office.

According to P.K Sarpong, some sitting members of Parliament and former ministers of State are walking freely and going about their normal businesses whereas there is enough evidence to prosecute them for using their positions to rip off the country's resources.

His letter is in lieu of the fact that DCE nominee for Juaben, Alexander Sarfo Kantanka, has been charged with 26 counts of corruption when a video that went viral had him arguing with some Assembly members who had failed to endorse his nomination and was supposedly trying to retrieve monies paid for same.

Kidly read below the full letter Addressed to Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng.

A Letter to the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

Dear Mr. SP,

When you were named as a replacement for your predecessor, many were Ghanaians who doubted your capabilities to steer the affairs of this revered Office of the Special Prosecutor. Some of us, as a result of what we had read about you and the testimonies by some key people we know, reposed so much trust and confidence in you.

More than a year after your appointment, we have been struggling to figure out what you have achieved judging by your media engagements and the promises you made to us.

While we are still nursing our wounds from this disappointment, we have learned from your outfit that a DCE nominee for Juaben, Alexander Sarfo Kantanka, has been charged with 26 counts of corruption when a video that went viral had him arguing with some Assembly members who had failed to endorse his nomination and was supposedly trying to retrieve monies paid for same.

I am not here to question you on whether that incident warrants the latest action or not, but is it not curious that you leave more serious matters or cases alone and focus on this matter?

We have had MPs who took double salaries for years, and these have been highlighted by your good self in the media. You have not prosecuted these cases of MPs and Ministers who flouted our laws in such a blatant manner and you are chasing after a rainbow?

You are on a hunting expedition, you have come across two animals, a woodpecker and an antelope, and instead of shooting the antelope who is far bigger than the bird, you waste your bullets on the bird?

Why pick an ant when an elephant is waiting patiently for you to be picked? Mr. SP, we are not amused by this selective nature of prosecuting cases which may not amount to naught when you could have focused your energies on bigger cases.

Sir, this is not a justification for you living up to expectations. If you want us to believe that you are truly working and living up to the hype surrounding your appointment, then go after those MPs and then Ministers who took double salaries.

Go after the Kahunas as well if you want us to believe in your fairness and commitment to ensuring that the coffers of the state are not plundered by a select few. As things stand now, our hearts are broken, for we expected better results than what we have just seen. Go after the double salary people, that’s more important than this Sarfo Kantanka case!
