There a saying among women of this generation which goes like "what a man can do, a woman can do it better." Mostly, females are regarded as weaker vessels hence they are not permitted to perform certain tasks or occupy certain positions but things seems to be taking a different turn nowadays. The classification of jobs based on gender is no longer relevant as women have proven to be equally capable of managing affairs.
Doumbouya as an interim president has the mandate to select or promote those that are qualified for the position and have proven that they can be loyal. The onus lies on the Coup leader to form a cabinet that is gender-balanced and to give women greater chances or opportunities considering how discriminatory some countries, are against women.
Madam Louopuo Lamah has been appointed as the head of the department of environment and sustainable development by the country's leader. The ministry is responsible for the protection of the environment, prevention of deforestation and illegal mining with other responsibilities in addition. Her nomination makes her the first female to be chosen to as a cabinet minister.
The task ahead is no easy one taking into account how divisive politics has become in our part of the world. Competent women with the required capabilities needs to be given full participation in policy making to boost the confidence of the upcoming one. Women play a pivotal role in politics and empowerment is the way to ensure they realize their full potentials.
