The recent circulating news that has undoubtedly caused a massive stir, debates, and arguments across all social media platforms was when another top member of the largest opposition party (NDC) finally vindicated the Electoral Commission’s decision to substitute the voters' ID with the Ghana card ahead of the most anticipated 2024 general elections.
Speaking in a recent interview on “The Big Issue” show, the Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga took the privilege to address the Electoral Commission’s initiative to introduce the Ghana Card as the only identification card required for voting in the most anticipated 2024 general elections but the unexpected happened.
According to the member of parliament for Bawku Central on the ticket of the largest opposition party (NDC), Mahama Ayariga, unexpectedly pushed for the use of the Ghana card for voting aside highlighting that, using the Ghana Card to vote will be more prudent.
“The law doesn’t say we cannot change it [the card used to vote]. We can change it to say if you have a Ghana Card, the Electoral Commission should recognize that for voting because the same information that you are going to give to get a Ghana Card is the same information that the Electoral Commission would be asking for. As we speak, I don’t have a problem with saying if you have a Ghana card, just go to the polling station and show it to the EC and vote”, NDC’s Mahama Ayariga emphatically revealed.
