Kantamanto market was raged with fire on Tuesday evening and traders have lost lots of properties out of this.
On Wednesday, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited the scene on behalf of the President who was not in the country, and assured the traders that the market will be reconstructed for them.
The traders later received a directive to resettle at the Car Park of the Accra Railway Station temporarily to be able to do business during this festive season. However, some traders of the market have rejected the temporary offer from the Government to relocate.

Their reason is that they fear if the market is later rebuilt they have no place there and they will be asked not to move in. The traders at a protest plead on the Government to support them so that they can remain at their old place. According to some of the grieving traders, some who moved to the Railway park have been sacked.
