In Ghana here, 'dumsor' literally means, 'off and on'. The term is related to electricity in Ghana which is not quite stable as Ghanaians experience load shedding of light in various locality, hence the name 'dumsor'.
Ghana started experiencing the blackout way back and as at today, Ghana is still experiencing the blackout in various part of the country.
So, the question then becomes, can dumsor be solved by any government in Ghana here?
Anytime there's a new government or change in government, the government tries to address the nation regarding this load shedding, when it comes to Ghana, electricity is one of our priorities and then any government that can not at least solve part of the problem get knocked out in general elections. Sounds funny but seriously, don't joke with Ghanaians when it comes to electricity.
Former President, John Dramani Mahama claims he was able to solve dumsor when he was in office. The NPP in the other side too claims the NDC is throwing sand into the eyes of Ghanaians, they also claim they are the political party who was able to solve the dumsor crisis in Ghana.
Who do you also think was able to successfully solve the dumsor crisis in Ghana? Let us know your thought under the comment section below let's get interactive.
Former President, John Dramani Mahama once said “Our colleagues (NPP) think that Ghanaians have a short memory. In 2016 there was no load shedding. How can you end a power crisis without adding one single megawatt of power to our national generation? It is not possible."
The NPP in the other side has down play those claims made by the biggest opposition party flagbearer for 2020 elections, Former President, John Dramani Mahama.
The NPP said the claims made by the NDC is “merely an opportunity for the NDC’s transaction agents to make more money from granting power purchasing contracts”.
The question then pop up again, who/ which government was able to solve Ghana's electricity crisis completely? Can any government solve the dumsor crisis? As am speaking right now, there's a light out in my town, we have experience this for more than 12 hours during the day.
