In 2019, Members of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) joined members of the Perez Chapel International in Accra yesterday to thank God for peaceful and ‘successful’ primaries, heightening an open secret that, Bishop Agyinasare and his Perez Chapel may be sympathizers of the NDC party.
Then, newly elected flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama said the visit was not merely an individual decision but a group visit to thank God, as he was joined by failed aspirants; Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Nurideen Iddrisu, Sylvester Mensah, Alban Bagbin, party executives, and his wife, Lordina Mahama who were all clad in white for the service. He, however, mentioned that Goosie Tanoh’s absence was due to other engagements he had to attend to.
In a video sighted online, Bishop Agyinasare in addressing that assertion that, he may be NDC simply answered that, "I also have a lot of NPP supporters who come to church here, Several NPP top financiers are my members also" People have their own perceptions but I have been involved with all former presidents and for me, I don't belong to any political party, I belong to the Party of Jesus"
But these pictures, indicate that, these top members of the NDC are registered members of the Perez Church and have a personal relationship with the renowned senior clergy man. Whereas Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi may be the newest top NDC hierarchy to have joined the church most recently, Hon. Sam George and Sylvester Mensah have been members for over a decade.
Sam George started way back even before finishing his degree at KNUST, where he was a staunch Christian leader at the KNUST Christian Fellowship, thanks to the teachings of Bishop Agyinasare. So before he even became a politician, he has been a member here.
Mr. Sylvester Mensah, former Member of Parliament and former Chief Executive Officer of NHIS has also been here for a long while too and even serves as a deacon and church leader here. My Sylvester was even a member of the Perez Chapel's Building committee, that saw the completion of the huge edifice, just some 5 to 7years ago. He is a dedicated member of the church indeed and for his son to have even wedded there, it is believed that, he was influential. He is also on the Board of Directors of the church's Perez University College, charged with transforming the institution around and making it accredited as soon as possible, aside ensuring its general progress and development of infrastructure and academic reputation.
Perez Chapel, with its motto as Breaking Forth, Transforming Generations, has a Pentecostal and Charismatic orientation and believes in the totality of the Bible, formerly known as the Word Miracle Church International started in Tamale, Northern Ghana on 29th March 1987, the Church has its headquarters in Dzorwulu, Accra. The Church currently has 530 branches in 22 countries. The Perez Dome a 14,000 seater auditorium is regarded as the largest auditorium in Ghana, by far.
