The heat is on: Nana Addo will surely stop the construction of the cathedral if he hears this.

The heat is on…Ghana has been ‘hit’ with another trending topic, which appears not to be ending anytime soon.

Currently in country, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in Parliament are pushing President Nana Akufo-Addo into a very tight spot by promoting an anti-LGBT law widely condemned by critics for undermining rights of many Ghanaians.

Already in Ghana, the gay sex is illegal, but while discrimination against LGBT people is common, no one has ever been prosecuted under the law. A proposal that includes criminalizing LGBT advocacy, requirements to denounce "suspects", advocates for conversion therapy and imposes longer jail sentences was introduced in parliament earlier this month.

The highly religious state of Ghana currently, hold about 71.2% of Christians (Pentecostal/Charismatic 28.3%, Protestant 18.4%, Catholic 13.1%, other 11.4%), Muslim 17.6%, traditional 5.2%, other 0.8%, none 5.2% (2010 est.); and all these religions frowns on LGBTQI+.

Whiles some Ghanaians think the same ex marriage should be allowed in the country, about 90% of the population also rejects it…saying they supports the law to criminalizing same-sex relationships in the country.

The main opposition National Democratic Congress MP for Ningo Prampram, Honuorable Samuel Nartey George has been the lead advocate in the quest to criminalizing LEGBTQI+ activities through a private members’ bill, which is currently before the Ghanaian parliament. The bill prescribes harsh custodial punishment for the LGBTQI+ community in Ghana.

The pressure from Ghanaians on President Nana Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)Government, is building up; and trouble seems t be approaching sooner than later, on the Nana Addo’s government if the LGBT is accepted in Ghana.

Since the debated on whether to allow the same sex marriage in Ghana started, the county got divided, and president Nana Addo has since been under pressure. Most of the people who are in support of the LGBTQ are mostly members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

As said earlier, Ghana is a highly religious nation, with all the religions and customs frowning to the same sex marriage. Because Christianity is the major religion in Ghana, President Nana Addo has offered to build a national cathedral for the country.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the construction of the National cathedral was a fulfillment of a promise he made to God in the run-up to the 2016 election.

A National Cathedral is supposed to be a historic project that would provides a sacred space and infrastructure for the formal religious activities of the nation, like state funerals and presidential inaugural services.

Now if President Nana Addo, is really obedient to God, and committed to serving and pleasing Him…then he should known, that God hates same sex marriage, and those who practice it, have committed abominations before the Lord.

In Leviticus chapter 20 verse 13 in the Christian’s Holy Book, The LORD said to Moses: “‘if a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have committed abomination. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

President Nana Addo must be firm, and be very sure not to allow the same sex marriage in the country, no matter the foreign pressure; because the same hand that approved for the construction a cathedral for the nation cannot be the same hand to approve the same sex marriage; it is an abomination.

Again, Matthew chapter 18 versus 6 to 7 says: “But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes”!

If this a abominable act of LGBTQ (which is against our religions and traditions), is allowed in the country…the Lords anger will not fall on only those who practice it, but also on those contributed to the approval, and those supported it.

If President Nana Addo really wants to please God by constructing a cathedral for Him…he must never allow the LGBTQ practice in the country.
