Russia stole $530 million of Ukrainian grain and invested the money in the war- Ukraine Alleges

Russia stole $530 million of Ukrainian grain and invested the money in the war — a joint Associated Press and PBS "Frontline" investigation

Journalists investigated the routes of 30 ships transporting grain from Ukraine's occupied territories to ports in Türkiye, Syria, Lebanon, and other countries.

In some cases, the Russians falsified customs declarations, while in others, they exported Ukrainian grain in small batches to the Russian cities of Rostov and Taganrog. There, they mixed it with their grain and exported it as Russian.

"Farmers in the occupied regions are forced to sell their crops to Russian-controlled companies at half price, compared to pre-war tariffs. Those who refuse, the Russians simply take the grain from them", AP quotes Ivan Fedorov, the mayor of Melitopol, as saying.

"It's plunder and looting, and it's also a criminal offense under international humanitarian law," David Crane, Former Chief Prosecutor of the UN Special Court for Sierra Leone.
